The Foreman is directly responsible for the efficient management of all the carpentry work they are assigned to. They must plan, organize, schedule, supervise, and perform high level, rough, and finish carpentry with a crew of skilled and semi-skilled carpenters. They must be experienced in all phases of carpentry including: layout of framing, framing, sheetrock, taping/ compounding, building soffits and ceilings, installing millwork and molding, and installing door frames/ doors/ hardware. The Foreman will be responsible for the beginning to end management of projects and must meet deadlines. This position needs a detail oriented and driven person who isn’t afraid to get dirty and labor alongside their crew to get a job done.

• Plan, organize, schedule, supervise, and inspect the work of skilled and semi-skilled carpenters
• Lays out work as specified in blueprints, drawings, or specifications without supervision
• Assign carpenters to jobs and keep them on task
• Use corrective action to keep jobs on schedule and under budget
• Inspect bid requests and report time, materials, and manpower needed for completion into an estimate file
• Inspects work areas to ensure work is being conducted in accordance with all safety, cleanliness, and quality standards
• Handle & document problems that arise or mistakes that occur
• Submit material order requests to the office
• Ensures tools and equipment are maintained, cleaned, and organized
• Complete & review time-sheets and track labor by job
• Lead new hires through company on-boarding process
• Perform rough and finish carpentry and related labor work as required
• Inform the project manager of the progress of the project including any customer concerns, problems, or delays
• Establish standard for performance of carpenters and inspects quantity and quality of work against these standards
• Evaluate employee performance and submit reports routinely in accordance with company evaluation standards
• Create & monitor training plans for helpers and apprentices
• Insure the image of the company is supported through professional appearance and expert workmanship
• Seek additional responsibility and guidance from company management to enhance skills, learn new skills, and create potential for advancement within the company

Job Requirements
Knowledge, skills, & abilities needed
A comparable amount of training, knowledge and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

* High school or vocational school degree; or GED
* Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades
* Thorough knowledge of the standard terminology, methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of the carpentry trade
* Basic math skills: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
* Knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials
* Basic understanding of technology including: Dropbox, word, excel, and outlook

* Prior experience in commercial construction is a must
* OSHA 30 Card
* Experience as a lead carpenter
* Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment associated with carpentry
* Experience reading from blueprints
* Some supervisory experience
* Must pass all company tests including: tool & material identification, computer literacy, mathematics, & an on field work evaluation

* Effectively plan & supervise the work of carpenters
* Able to work with little or no supervision
* Read, interpret, work, & build from penciled sketches, drawings, plans, and blueprints
* Follow oral and written instructions
* Must have a smartphone with a data plan
* Estimate labor and material needs for carpentry jobs
* Communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
* Give clear detailed instructions to carpenters
* Solve problems on the fly
* Coach, train, and give constructive criticism to carpenters
* Lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds
* Climb and work from ladders
* Capably of significant: standing, walking, moving, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling
* Work around dust and debris
* Establish and maintain friendly & effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, managers, and clients.
