Job Summary:
A Polysomnographic Technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, associated interventions, treatment of sleep disorders, patient care and education under the general oversight of the clinical Director or Supervisor. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide oversight of other staff.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Collects patient vitals, explains and prepares for the procedure and orients the patient to the sleep center
* Implements appropriate interventions including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as mask fitting, continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
* Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify, meet and communicate patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status, pertinent medical/social history) and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
* Scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events by applying professionally accepted guidelines
Education/Certification/Licensure/Experience:
* Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent
* Current AHA BLS/CPR certification
* Current registration with the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist or current registration with the Medical Board of California as a Respiratory Care Practioner or Respiratory Therapist.
* Successful completion of an A STAR-designated focused education program OR both a STAR-designated self-study education program AND a STAR-designated focused 2 program; a minimum of twelve (12) months of clinical experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist that includes on-site polysomnography duties performed as direct patient recording and/or scoring.
* Comply with the BRPT standards of conduct
* *Schedule is Sunday- Tuesday**
