We are currently looking to hire numerous people to work at a woodworking facility in the Newport, Maine area. All positions are full-time, year-round inside positions. We have openings on all shifts and we have positions for entry level candidates and also for the skilled work force. We pay competitive rates for experience. Responsible for crafting wood products such as mail and lantern posts, fence posts & gates, garden décor, wooden playsets and/or furniture. Also may be responsible for:

  • Produce wood products
  • Build wood products using hand tools.
  • Use automated machinery, such as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines.
  • Perform work in an assembly line facility.
  • Set up, operate, and tend drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood-nailing machines.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth wooden parts.
  • Verify dimensions using caliper or rule.
  • Add fasteners and adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
  • Sand products using sander or sandpaper.
  • Stain or coat products with lacquer or varnish.
  • Set products out to dry.
  • Operate specialized pieces of woodworking machinery.
  • Create wooden accents and trim.
  • Construct dies used in castings.
  • Complete all stages of woodworking process.
  • Ensure wood isn't warped, cracked, or swollen.
  • Apply paint to raw wood.

 

Part’s Assembler/Builders’ Assistant $10/hour

  • Must possess good mechanical skills and hand/eye coordination.
  • Actively familiarizes with products, processes, material locations and equipment.
  • Operates applicable machinery in the shop safely and efficiently.
  • Assists Material Handlers as needed to maximize shop production.
  • Responsible for cleaning shop area and keeping it neat and organized.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and contributes as a team player.
  • Consistent, self-driven Level I performers progress toward position of Level I Builder as opportunity arise.
