Cable/Phone Technician

We are currently hiring for a direct hire opportunity in Downtown Tampa, FL. for a Utility locating company that is launching a program for cost savings for their utility locating crews. This program is designed to save money on the front end of looking up job sites to decide if crews need to be sent out or if they can tell on the maps that there are no utilities near by.

What is utility locating?

Utility location is the process of identifying and labeling public utility mains that are underground. These mains may include lines for telecommunication, electricity distribution, natural gas, cable television, fiber optics, traffic lights, street lights, storm drains, water mains, and waste water pipes.

This position is an in-office position (not in the field at all), working with various resources on the computer to identify if a certain area has underground utilities.

We have multiple openings for a Survey Researcher with the following job duties:

* Research tickets (the orders for Utility locating crews to go out) by comparing prints to the scope of the assigned ticket, ticket history in the area, and any other available (Google maps, Google earth, etc.)
* Assess tickets for risk of possible damages (will they cut through a utility?)
* Determine if researched tickets are in conflict with existing facilities

A successful person in this role will have experience in:

• cable/internet/telecomm - installations or locating or troubleshooting
• technical experience - desk support, help desk, or utility tech support
• have an understanding of how underground utilities are placed and why it is important to know where they are located in regards to a construction project
