Rail Maintenance Supervisor
Skilled worker with a thorough knowledge of procedures and processes associated with rail yard safety, operations, and railcar movement. Oversees maintenance and repair of the rail cars, the locomotive and track mobile. Oversee Sea Bulk transfers and crew.
Wear personal protection equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures as outlined in the KTN safety manual and OSHA regulations and use of general rail yard safety devices (blue flag signals, wheel chicks and .). Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Mathematical skills: ability to perform all basic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Have a high standard for quality. Work environment: in and outdoor (extreme weather conditions). Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment. Perform various tasks in assistance or support of the KTN-organization including but not limited to general labor, general cleaning, and maintenance in your assigned area. Work other than normal scheduled hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. According to the needs of the business. Be on time and ready to work at the start of the shift (minimum 5 minutes before shift starts). Adhere to all KTN work and safety rules. Ensuring all OSHA safety standards are followed and executed. Good working knowledge of rail yard operations. Receive new people and make sure they get the basic orientation and the specialized training depending on their job. Afterwards, introduce them to the team and assist in starting them up. Submit daily reports to the Rail Transfer manager. Work as the back up for the Rail Supervisor and Transfer Supervisor. Maintenance and PM of rail tracks, locomotive and track mobile. Maintain records on the rail tracks, locomotive and truck mobile. Submit work orders and PO s for rail maintenance. Oversee the Sea Bulk transfers and personnel. Insure transfer crew follows all procedures and KTN safety rules. Ability to perform assigned work tasks with little or no supervision.
