We operate more than 20 manufacturing, processing and warehousing locations that make salt from three major production methods:

* Mechanical evaporation at facilities in the U.S. in California, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, New York and Ohio

* Solar evaporation and harvesting from ponds in California, Oklahoma, Utah, Bonaire in the Dutch Antilles, and Los Olivitos, Venezuela

* Rock salt mining from underground mines in Louisiana, New York and Ohio

Cargill Salt services a variety of customers ranging from home improvement, hardware, grocery, and convenience store retailers, to food makers/processors, water conditioning dealers, and foodservice and general wholesale distribution. We make more than 1,000 different salt products and package sizes. In addition, we market national and regional brands, including Diamond Crystal branded household consumer food and water softener salt products, Champions Choice branded agricultural products for animal feeding, as well as Cargill and Alberger branded specialty salt products for food manufacturing customers.

Position Purpose

Cargill Salt is currently looking for a Production Supervisor at our Freedom, OK location. This position supervises and develops direct reports, leads safety and process efficiency initiatives, and manages capital and expense projects. The position is responsible for the production processing equipment and/or packaging lines.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Safety/Risk Management:

* Executes day-to-day operations of assigned area, ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee safety and food/feed Safety.

* Partners/collaborates with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) experts to implement the most effective approach for complying with corporate safety policies and procedures:

* Health & Safety: Enforces a culture of zero injury and illness.

* Environmental: Understands and proactively avoid environmental impact and potential risk to the businesses.

* Feed Safety: Directly monitors risks associated with products. Ensures HACCP/FDA requirements are met in all food and feed processes.

* Educates workforce in the feed safety fundamentals and completes safety inspections and housekeeping audits.

* Documents and investigates EHS/Feed Safety incident data compiled by Production Supervisors to identify risks and recommend mitigation actions (i.e. safety index, RIFR, food safety index, CFSRA and FDA audits).

* Maintains direct relationship with regulatory agencies (i.e. beef plant supervisors work side-by-side with FDA agents).

25% Customer Focus/Product Innovation/Quality Management:

* Directly monitors production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications. Works with Production Supervisors to meet customer specifications and timeline.

* Documents and investigates quality data issues that occur and compiles information and provides recommendations for improvement for review by Production/Operations Supervisors.

* Within defined area of scope, identifies risks and recommends areas of improvement and innovation. Measures quality performance in areas that impact the customers.

* Supports BU/Plant customer relationship by meeting businesses objectives and by understanding how operational performance impacts internal/external customers.

15% Production Financial Performance / Capital Planning Effectiveness

* Administers production budget for a department, process, or shift.

* Executes purchase orders and ensures timely payment of invoices.

* Accountable for compliance with department non-base capital investment plans.

10% Operational/Reliability Excellence / Continuous Improvement:

* Executes and monitors day-to-day operations for all production processes for a single department, process, or shift.

* Directly supervises daily operations of assigned area to achieve production throughput requirements including work flow, job assignments, scheduling, shift coverage, etc.

* Supports, deploys and provides input to best in class operational practices. Utilizes deep technical skills and relevant experience to identify/solve problems and recommends/implements operating efficiencies.

* Actively measures performance and implements leading common practices to promote operational efficiencies (i.e. yield optimization, energy/water usage reductions, etc.).

* Implements and supports common reliability processes and ensures the reliability culture is foundational to operations (i.e. deploys common reliability processes and metrics; focus on eliminating the root-cause of reliability problems, etc.).

* Supports/partners with local plant Reliability and Engineering management to develop approaches for meeting/tracking efficiency standards (scorecard and metrics control, total cost of maintenance, monthly review of compliance audits, etc.).

* Champions a culture that promotes operational excellence. Recommends process improvements, and supports business case for new investments/innovations.

* Supports COEs to identify opportunities for continuous improvements applicable to the entire business/platform.

10% Operational/Reliability Excellence / Continuous Improvement:

* Supervises and provides coaching to Team Leads and production workers, including coaching Cargill's core values.

* Assists in planning for future production workforce needs and participates in selection of employees.

* Accountable for production talent development and engagement within a sector/department.

* Responsible for training and on boarding new/transferred employees as well as workforce engagement, recognition, development and coaching.

* Applies disciplinary actions when needed.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 or more years of Production or Operations management (including supervision, crew leadership or coordination)

* 2 or more years Previous experience in a supervisory role, directly supervising and developing others

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or higher degree

* 1 or more years of experience with packaging equipment

* Capital Project Management/Equipment Installation of up to $500,000
