Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a PCAPP Operations QC Inspector for a 5+ month contract opportunity in Pueblo, CO with our partner, a private nonprofit applied science and technology development company.

Job Description

The Research Scientist conducts technical activities with general supervision and is responsible for the application of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures as applied to Operations Quality Control (QC). Candidate is responsible for specific portions of projects as assigned. The selected candidate will work at the Pueblo Chemical Depot supporting the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) project.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and conducts assigned technical tasks in support of Operations Quality Control (QC) objectives in support of the PCAPP Laboratory, which may include but is not limited to: providing customers with required Laboratory Operations capabilities; meeting or exceeding customer requirements for accuracy and precision; meeting or exceeding customer requirements in regarding turn-around time; maintain quality system adequacy, effectiveness, and implementation, etc.
  • Reviews complex technical data by evaluating adherence to processes programmatic requirements and provide concurrence of suitability for reporting.
  • Performs independent technical reviews and assessments of Laboratory Operations test data, laboratory operating procedures, technical specifications and instrument operating conditions and limits are maintained in accordance with governing plans and policies.
  • Provides Laboratory Operations oversight. To include chemical agent extraction analysis of process control and hazardous waste samples, and other analytical analysis and functions.
  • Writes Observation, Corrective Action and Condition Reports detailing laboratory deficiencies of data quality or procedural compliance to determine any implications to data quality and document corrective actions for distribution both internally and externally to the laboratory.
  • Performs surveillances of Laboratory Operations personnel to verify procedural compliance and potential areas of improvement.
  • Applies and maintains a quality information system(s) used to track and trend assessment findings, analyze data integrity, document non-conformance and deficiencies are assessed from internal reviews, and identify any potential opportunities for improvement in processes.
  • Reports quality inconsistences to Management.

Skills

  • BS degree in Chemistry or other scientific area with six (6) years equivalent OR a Master's Degree with three (3) years equivalent experience OR may possess seven (7) to nine (9) years of direct QA Laboratory Operations experience.
  • Knowledge in instrumental methods of analysis including gas chromatographic analysis (IC, ICP-MS, P&T, and HPLC), toxic material handling, and wet chemistry and EPA methods (8260, 8270, 9045, 9012, 8081, and 6020) highly desired.
  • Experience with chemical agents, toxic industrial chemicals, hazardous waste management and hazardous waste sampling highly desired.
  • Excellent PC skills which may include database entry/management (e.g. Windows OS, Access, MS Office Suite).
  • Must be a US Citizen. The applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must be willing to meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position. In addition, applicant selected may be subject to qualification in accordance with Army Regulation 50-6, for placement in the U.S. Army Chemical personnel Reliability Program (CPRP).

Additional Information

  • This is a 5+ month contract.
  • This is a shift position working nights and weekends.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts (8-12 hours nominally), including weekends and holidays.
  • Drug-free workplace; urine testing for drugs are mandatory.
  • This position involves work near or with toxic and hazardous materials and requires ability to wear protective clothing/mask. Must be clean-shaven; must wear seat belts when driving or riding in vehicles on post.
