About this job

Assists in coordinating and directing the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work. Advises and recommends to the Service Manager or Service Location Manager regarding technician skills and training needs.

Essential Duties:

• Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge.
• Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs. May review repair orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Performs complex diagnostics on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products in the shop and field as required
• Directs and assists in the diagnosis of machine problems of technicians and apprentices.
• Inspects and repairs all special tools. Recommends new tooling as required.
• Advises Service Manager or Service Location Manager of all customer complaints.
• Assists Service Manager with in-house and manufacturer technician training.
• Assist location with training and usage of technology tools.
• May fill the Service Manager or Service Location Manager role in their absence.
• May arrange for and participate in re-conditioning of used equipment and set-up of new equipment.
• May approve the release of equipment for delivery to the customer.
• May assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager.
• Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Mentors Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians
• Conducts or supports customer clinics
• Be the Certified Dealer Instructor for Service for the company working with Training Coordinator to be certified and lead internal service training
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Job Requirements
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
* High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
* 3+ years experience in Service Department as a Service Technician operations.
* Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
* Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
* Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
* Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations.
* Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
* Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Demonstrates effective communication skills.
* Beginning to intermediate computer skills and ability to utilize all Washington Tractor systems with proficiency.
* Must maintain a company insurable driving record.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Effort: May be required to make repairs which often require them to work in tiring, awkward, and uncomfortable positions. They frequently stand or sit for long periods of time at a desk, may bend, stoop, crawl under equipment, and make repairs in other tight spaces.
Ability to lift up-to 20 pounds unassisted and up to 75 pounds assisted.
Working Conditions: Retail store environment, service and repair shop, and stock room. Exposed to various work surfaces both inside and outside. The work is usually performed inside on concrete surfaces where there is exposure to drafts, noise, and fumes from vehicles. They are continually exposed to dirt, dust, and grease, and to the potential for burns, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, and strains. To reduce dangers and irritations from these conditions, they follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses, and ear protection.

Up to 10% driving or air travel.
