About this job

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To troubleshoot and repair all existing process and packaging equipment with as minimal of downtime as possible.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment as required.
  • To make sure all safeguards of equipment are installed as needed to conform to all regulations, company, state, and federal.
  • To work with maintenance supervisors, Lead electrician, and other electricians to learn as much as possible about unfamiliar equipment (Taking out equipment manuals and reading is very helpful and a must).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Must be at the workstation at the beginning of the shift.
  • Must continuously follow all safety policies and procedures on the job.
  • For safety and business purposes, must have communication skills including reading, writing and must be able to communicate to others as well as be able to receive communication from others.

 Job Skills:

  • Have the ability to work with hands and to work in electrical and mechanical oriented situations, following instructions of the maintenance supervisor, maintenance manager, department supervisor, and department managers.
  • Have the ability to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to work with no supervision, given proper instructions.
  • Must have the ability to work under very stressful conditions.
  • Ability to read schematics, and PLC Line to Line diagrams understanding each department's line of flow and most of all the different devices and equipment in such areas.

 

    Education and Training Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and write and be able to follow detail instructions (written and oral) as well as giving of same.
  • Must be familiar with company, state, and federal safety regulations as well as the local, state, and federal electrical code standards.
  • Must have 3 to 5 years' experience with industrial electrical applications.
  • Must be able to work with 3 phase motors and controls.
  • Must be able to understand the basics of PLC. (Inputs, outputs, and logic).
  • Must have basic understanding of computers.
  • Able to draw basic prints, that is, Line-to-Line diagrams.
  • Able to read prints to troubleshoot problems in the circuitry.
  • Must have good common sense and the ability for "On the job training".
  • Must have basic knowledge of schematics of all electrical applications
