Job Description

With the Army National Guard's thousands of personnel and countless missions, the need for communications goes beyond vitally important to absolute necessity, because without ongoing and reliable communication, systems fail, orders do not get relayed, and missions come to a grinding halt.

That's why the Army National Guard fields the communications maintenance team - to keep the Army National Guard talking. Cable Systems Installer/Maintainers are primarily responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining cable and wire communications systems, communication security devices and associated equipment, including communications and electric cables between utility poles.

Become a Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer and you will also gain the skills necessary for a future with civilian companies or Government agencies that design, repair, or make communications and electronic equipment. You may even get the opportunity to expand your certifications and credentials to make you that much more attractive to civilian employers.

Earn while you learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to learn. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for a Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of both classroom and field work.

Requires military enlistment. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.
