Job Summary
The Sr. Shift Supervisor is responsible for inspiring, leading, and overseeing the restaurant and team members, in the absence of, or together with the Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager, on a consistent basis. A Round Table Sr. Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that employees are being developed, working together as a team, behaving professionally, and providing great service to our guests and making our product with precision. In addition, the Sr. Shift Supervisor is responsible for marketing to our guests and achieving their financial targets while maintaining a safe, clean environment. The Sr. Shift Supervisor must focus on the highest impact activities and train, develop and coach others to perform routine job duties to optimize their effectiveness. Must be ready to accept promotion to Assistant Manager within 12 months, or upon turning 21 years old. Must be available for a variety of shifts. Must be willing to accept assignments within reasonable commuting distance and be available to relocate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Building the Capability and Loyalty of the Team by: 15%
Improving team skills and productivity of the crew through one on one coaching, quick huddles, performance management, training and development
Ensuring the management team is highly functional (Shift Supervisors are highly proficient at the routine tasks and can handle many of the supervisory activities at an acceptable level)
Ensuring the management team is inclusive of Shift Supervisors and the team speaks with one voice
Participating in the employment and staffing process with regard to recruiting and selecting qualified team members
Reinforcing restaurant routines and ensuring the execution of the RTP operating standards
Reviewing the work delegated to others
Assisting the Restaurant Manager with employee concerns and identifying potential problems
Recognizing, rewarding and motivating team members
Increasing Guest Loyalty/Building Sales through: 15%
Building guest relationships (VIP treatment for groups, learning guest names, circulating in the dining room, responding quickly to customer complaints, performing call backs on large orders, etc.)
Ensuring proper staffing and skill deployment on each shift
Ensuring the product is made correctly and to RTP standards
Ensuring systems such as training, cleaning, opening / closing, delivery, etc. are executed according to company standards
Consistently executing promotions and marketing according to program specifications (POP installation and maintenance, bounce back distribution, suggestive selling, etc.)
Ensuring the Financial Health of the Business by: 10%
Providing input into restaurant goals and executing plans to meet or exceed those goals
Reviewing systems execution to ensure the restaurant maximizes profit (labor management systems, accounting systems, production system, etc.)
Participating with the Restaurant Manager in effectively analyzing financial information and guest feedback information to assist in diagnosing and solving problems
Providing input to the Restaurant Manager regarding corrective action plans to fix systemic issues
Effectively utilizing all of the resources available (Marketing, Director of Operations, Human Resources, other Support staff)
Leading peak revenue periods in the restaurant by: 60%
Being visible to guests and team members
Ensuring the restaurant is ready for peak revenue periods
Continuously coaching team members to provide excellent customer service and make the product with precision
Optimizing the efficiency of all three segments of store operations by managing service
times, redeploying employees where needed and relieving bottlenecks
Job Requirements
Education/Experience: High school diploma, general education degree, or equivalent required. Four
year college degree preferred. Previous restaurant or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills: Able to perform all Sr. Shift Supervisor duties, act independently, and semi-autonomously without direct supervision. Positive attitude, friendly and upbeat personality is critical for success in this position. Good interpersonal skills, including professionalism in dealing with team members and the public. Good time management, planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Able to work effectively within and contribute to a team environment. Able to lead, coach and develop others. Able to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions. Able to read, write, and communicate effectively. Able to perform and understand simple mathematical calculations; basic P & L knowledge. Computer skills required.
Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to frequently stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Will occasionally have to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Other: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 19 years of age.
