Essential Functions
1. Regular and predictable on‐site attendance required.
2. Ability to work overtime as needed.
3. Ability to travel on rotation as needed.
4. Prepare patient and instrumentation appropriate to exam.
5. Room patient timely and accurately.
6. Collect patient medical history including chief complaint.
7. Update medications, allergies, health maintenance system at time patient is roomed.
8. Screen patient and perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks in
relation to:
a. Visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, evaluation of motility, papillary function
tests, color plates, applanation tonometry, dilation of pupils, B Scan, ophthalmic imaging
including fluorescein angiography, etc.
9. Assist provider with laser and injection procedures.
10. Provide patient home care instructions and counseling.
11. Clarify pre‐op and post‐op instructions with patients.
12. Maintain practice standards of sterile technique and infection control.
13. Process pharmacy requests, patient phone calls, and provider messages appropriately.
14. Facilitate daily operations and responsibilities of the "patient flow" within the department.
15. Ensure smooth office operations which support teamwork, and generate a positive attitude
between front and back office staff.
16. Ensure department maintains sanitary conditions in exam and procedure rooms.
17. Attend regular staff meetings.
18. Consult with manager on problems and interpretation of policies and procedures to ensure
patient and office needs are met.
19. Maintain appropriate inventory levels and order supplies and minor equipment as directed.
20. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions; call for service as necessary.
21. Promote a high quality of care delivery through protocols.
22. Assist the manager review workflows to aid in process improvement and efficient patient care
delivery.
23. Actively engage in discussion and review of processes, patient flow, EMR data input, and other
office activities.
