Protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements and litigation. Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of this particular business within UnitedHealth Group so as to best advise senior business leaders. Provides a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one of more areas such as mergers and acquisitions, transactional work, commercial law, contracts law, benefit law, insurance law, regulatory and compliance. Associate General Counsel in the Securities, Transactions and International legal group at UnitedHealth Group. This legal team oversees the securities law, capital markets, real estate, tax, M&A, investments, joint ventures, key strategic transactions and international legal functions enterprise-wide.Primary Responsibilities:

Provide a full range of legal advice and services in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, commercial law, contracts law, securities, anti-trust, tax law, regulatory and compliance
Provide executives across the enterprise with insights and guidance on complex, international legal issues and their commercial implications
Serve as a interface with its customers, including government customers, for contracting matters
Review complex commercial joint venture proposals
Advise on structuring and contract negotiation strategies and play lead role in proposal preparation
Assess legal risks and work with business and operational teams to mitigate and address
Accurately diagnose needs and manage partnerships with internal partners and external firms to bring appropriate, commercially sound, solutions to international legal matters

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate degree
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in at least two of the following areas: transactional work (particularly mergers and acquisition), healthcare regulatory law, and risk management
Proven analytical skills and strategic decision-making ability
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, works well in a team environment, able to work in diverse environments and adhere to highest ethical standards
Experience successfully managing staff and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Impressive executive presence with the ability to gain credibility, rapport and support from key internal and external stakeholders
Outstanding writing skills
Strong influencing skills and ability to display a strong sense of versatility in relating to different levels within the organization and people with varying backgrounds and ideas. Be able to facilitate consensus and directions for change
Strategic thinking with experience developing a long-term plan and ensuring its executionPreferred Qualifications:
