As a senior leader on our delivery team, this individual must be have a collaborative mind set and work at all levels in the information technology from Developers to DBAs to System Administration and in the business organizations from associate to executive level. The ideal candidate will have professional services/consulting experience, broad healthcare industry experience, as well as delivery experience with some business development exposure. The candidate will be both a' thinker' and a 'doer' and will have demonstrated a high degree of collaborative business practices in his/her previous experience.
 
Job Functions:


Work with a diverse set of business and technical stakeholders/clients at all levels on technical infrastructure, data repositories/flows, applications, and processes.  The solution architect works to understand problems, document current state environments, design future state solutions based on client needs and best practices, and create a plan for migration.  

Create design documentation deliverables including, but not limited to Process Models, Process Decomposition Diagrams, Application Architecture Diagrams, Data Models, Data Flow Diagrams, and Entity Relationship Diagrams

Elicit high quality Functional and Non-Functional requirements and design solutions to meet them.

Must be able to design solutions that make optimal use of infrastructure resources.

Some experience rationalizing an application portfolio and developing roadmaps for consolidation/simplification

Use a combination of advanced technical aptitude and consultative capabilities with a sales and business focus.

Ensure adherence to client or best practice development and architecture standards, procedures, and design methodologies

Understanding and development of application development frameworks and standardization of design patterns

Independently develop internal and external system design specifications.

Lead efforts to evaluate new vendor software or existing system and make recommendations
 

Requirements



4 year College Degree - a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (Math, Computer Science, or MIS)  

10+ years of experience in information technology, data management, and application development

10 + years of experience in designing and building Data warehouse/Data marts / Operational  Data Stores(ODS)

6+ years in application and solution architecture in the Data warehouse/Business Intelligence  domain

8+ years managing projects

6+ years of experience in Data Profiling & data analysis in a DW environment  on     Teradata/Oracle/MS SQL Server

6+ years of experience in creating Source to Target Mappings.

6 + years of Data/Dimensional modelling   and EDW implementation experience in Teradata/Oracle/MS SQL Server

6+ years of ETL design using SSIS/Informatica/DataStage or other Data Integration Tools

Healthcare experience required with healthcare payer experience a plus

Prior consulting experience highly preferred

Expert level experience in data modeling, process modeling, and structured analysis and design techniques

Ability to translate technical concepts into business level language and effectively communicate ideas and direction with all levels of business management and staff

Must be flexible, creative, and able to "think outside the box." Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment is required

Experience in ETL architecture and design, data architecture and modeling, data governance and stewardship, business intelligence tools (such as Cognos, Business Objects, etc.) and reporting and analysis.

Ability to design and build out reusable components

Knowledge of Data Profiling Tools like Informatica IDE/IDQ, Data Flux etc.

Ability to perform Data profiling and analysis of structured and unstructured data

Ability to Define new interface layouts  (custom or healthcare industry standards)  for integrating  into the data warehouse

Expert Knowledge of Dimensional Modelling and Proficiency in modeling tools like ERWIN

Expert Knowledge in creating source to target mappings and ETL design for integration of new/modified data streams into the data warehouse/data marts

Proficient in creating Process Flows using Visio 

Proficiency in Performance tuning of ETL processes

Knowledge of  Automation tools like Tivoli Maestro

Experience in  working with sensitive/de-identified data environments

Expert knowledge and past experience driving to system development life cycle methodology (SDLC)

Agile experience is a plus and understanding of transitional strategies from the traditional Waterfall approach to an Agile approach is a plus

Proven ability to manage key stakeholder interests, simultaneously managing conflicting priorities and business interests. Ability to collaborate across all IT and business functions.

Work with each client and team to ensure they are informed as to project status on an ongoing basis

Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects.

Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Demonstrated experience managing customer-facing, strategic projects as well as Application Development projects.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Travel required **(see note)
 
**Typical travel scenario – Travel is based on project size, scope and location.  Projects may require up to 80% travel. If travel is required , typical travel schedule is out early Monday, back late Thursday with telecommute from home on Friday.
