Primary Responsibilities:


Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports

Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles

Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position

Involvement in the monthly/quarterly 'close' process

Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audit

Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness

Develop business requirements during the design phase of the Minimum Premium database

Design test scripts and perform user acceptance testing

Enter monthly adjustments into the Minimum Premium database

Prepare monthly close related journal entries

Ensure accuracy in reporting by performing monthly reconciliations against the database

Reconcile the employer group collection process

Prepare Stop Loss reconciliations

Perform general ledger account reconciliations and prepare flux analysis commentary

Review the work of other team members

Prepare quarterly and annual support schedules for the statutory filing preparation

Provide support for the interim and annual external financial audits

Research and provide resolution to ad hoc inquiries

Assist in designing and implementing process improvements and controls

Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness

Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them

Positions in this function maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports

Requirements

Required experience:

Bachelors degree with concentration in Accounting or a related field
5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred experience:

Public accounting experience
Healthcare experience
Accounting experience handling regulated entities
Experience with Oracle, Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft Financials, and Microsoft Access
