Job Description:
The Service Technician is responsible for providing timely and quality diagnosis and repair of customers' products while maintaining high customer service. This position also assists fellow Technicians with diagnosis and repair. This position promotes and sells additional products and services that directly impact the profitability of the Company. The Service Technician is also responsible for the successful tire, battery, and oil installation to customer vehicles following all automotive processes and procedures.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
* Performs diagnosis of customer's products
* Orders parts, researches part availability, and completes customer service orders
* Follows the guidelines set up by the Parts department to promote accountability and avoid shrinkage
* Installs mechanical or electrical parts, and performs necessary repairs
* Creates detailed estimates and makes initial customer contact to sell the repair, as applicable
* Looks continuously for methods to improve business performance and enhance the customer experience
* Serves as back-up for Automotive Service repairs to be completed per Technician classification in Auto Store
* Participates actively in team servicing of every customer vehicle to ensure fast, expert service
* Dedicates work time to providing excellent customer service
* Promotes teamwork to deliver times and accurate customer care during all operating hours
* Demonstrates a sense of responsive urgency to every customer, no matter what service is required* Uses the Quality Service Evaluation (QSE) form to understand customer service advisor's and customer service manager's instructions
* Fulfills the customer's needs the first time, every time
* Communicates with customer service manager, customer service advisor and other technicians to meet Sears Automotive time standards and to exceed customer requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities (cont.):
* Adheres strictly to Sears Automotive Dress Code standards
* Protects customer's vehicle with floor mats, seat/steering wheel covers and, if necessary, fender covers
* Racks vehicle safely following Sears Automotive training
* Performs Multi Point Inspection (MPI) visual inspections and communicate with customer service manager and/or customer service advisor within 10 minutes
* Maintains back shop cleanliness and equipment calibration to Sears Automotive standards
* Avoids damage to wheels and hubcaps by using proper care
* Uses proper mounting, balancing and repair techniques as defined in Sears Automotive training
* Sets tire inflation per guidelines
* Follows Sears Automotive Wheel Torque Policy fully to ensure customer safety
* Washes tire and wheels and remove protective coating from tires
* Uses proper battery installation, testing and charging techniques as defined in training
* Signs off in Tire Point of Sale immediately on job completion to expedite customer exit
* Thanks customer, expressing appreciation for the business
* Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
* Ability to perform accurate diagnosis and repair of customer products, including communication of diagnosis and needed repairs of products to the customer in a knowledgeable and courteous manner
* Ability to select and safely use basic tools or instruments to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair, or test various products; including knowledge of basic electrical principles
* Ability to work variable and flexible hours, including extended workdays of up to 10 hours, weekends and nights as necessary
* Ability to work around gas and oil products within the Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines
* Ability to maintain the highest level of service standards, and to work with management in Technician development
* Outstanding customer service skills
* Computer and database literacy skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Ability to read, write, and speak English
* Ability to constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.; frequently up to 50 lbs.; and occasionally up to, and over 100 lbs
* Successful completion of Sears Automotive Express Technician core curriculum
* Commitment to safety: Use of appropriate personal protective equipment, back belt, safety glasses and safety shoes at all times
* Maintenance of individual productivity as defined by the business sales per hour standard
* Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
* Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to read and utilize reports

Preferred Skills:
* Past experience in Small Engine Repair
* Commitment to teamwork and mentoring others
* Speed and expertise when installing tires and batteries

Education Experience: HS Graduate or Equivalent
