Purpose

This position is responsible for developing a process to improve space productivity in existing locations that include but not limited to researching technology, testing, training and implementation of an enterprise wide program. In addition the Director of Space Planning & Productivity will support the Field Merchandising VP on various projects related to the performance and metrics of the field merchandising team. This position will provide dotted line direction on space performance analysis requirements to all regional merchandising analysts within the company.

Essential Functions

Merchandising & Administration
  • Execute floor planning analysis to support projects related to space changes requested as field merchants take action regarding category performance and react to changing market conditions
  • Optimize store space so that store design, space planning, and merchandising are intertwined and in-line with store specific consumer demand for a truly consumer-centric approach in stores
  • Develop strategies to ensure that category and departmental space are allocated appropriately in store to enable maximum return on investment
  • Generate reports to validate as required to support space changes or new concepts
  • Develop and submit floor plans that match the macro and micro space plan of existing stores and help support NSVM as-built process.
  • Work closely with merchants and stores to address specific global space issues
  • Develop a thorough understanding of F&D policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results for assigned area(s) of responsibility

Job Requirements

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a large volume of work across multiple projects in a fast paced frequently changing environment
  • Ability to produce high quality work that is very detailed, accurate and completed on schedule
  • Sound listening and analytical skills, likes problem solving and offering creative ideas/resolution to challenges
  • Responds positively to change, by embracing and adopting new direction and process changes required to improve efficiency, accomplish goals and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels within the organization
  • Preferred working knowledge of JDA Space/Floor Planning or similar software
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  1. Limited travel required including air and car travel
  2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
