The Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations will support the corporate and foundation relations program for Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation, Inc., to provide major philanthropic resources that address core financial needs of the Medical Center and meet strategic objectives of the Medical Center and the Foundation. S/he will be expected to work closely with the Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations to implement the foundation relations strategies and support efforts to collaborate with the President and Major Gifts team to establish corporate relations strategies to secure major gifts/grants. This position will have a particular emphasis on raising professional private foundation, corporate, and charitable organization support for faculty research and program development. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Support of the development program to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward corporations and foundations for financial support of clinical, research, teaching and outreach programs of Connecticut Children's. Includes, but is not limited to, prospect identification, analyzing ability and inclination to give, developing strategies for cultivation and solicitation that define effective methods and means of giving, and engaging appropriate partners in the process. In particular, attention must be paid to effective ongoing engagement of foundation partners in Connecticut Children's programs to ensure ongoing support for the Medical Center's financial priorities. The emphasis will be on providing funds for research, technology, program development and infrastructure. The AVP will work closely with the Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Relations to implement and achieve annual cash and pledge goals that represent a significant and appropriate portion of the Foundation's annual revenues. Year-to-year the dollar and purpose goals for corporate and foundation relations are expected to have a significant impact on the ability of Connecticut Children's to grow and maintain excellence in its clinical, research and educational programs. The AVP will be expected to work collaboratively with a team of development professionals and administrative support, as needed, to fully realize the prospect potential of foundations, corporations and other charitable organizations as philanthropic partners for Connecticut Children's. S/he will be expected to support the pursuit of funding opportunities that bring together Connecticut Children's financial and programmatic priorities with the strategic and program objectives of corporations and foundations. This will include being responsible for understanding foundation guidelines and working with colleagues at the Medical Center to align with these guidelines, and following all funder guidelines and institutional policies for proposals, reporting and stewardship. In that process, the AVP will interact with internal contacts, including faculty, administration and staff to engage them in appropriate cultivation activities, to research funders and funding opportunities, formulate and present proposals and to follow through on stewardship of all gifts and grants. Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree in relevant area preferred. A minimum of four years of experience in a fundraising program, with specific experience with corporations and foundation strongly preferred. Experience in writing solicitation and stewardship materials required, with specific experience writing proposals for project funding strongly preferred. Direct experience in grants and contracts at an academic medical center, hospital, public policy center or in higher education preferred.
