POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager Media oversees all aspects of traditional and digital media for national and regional
advertising and is a key influencer on corporate media strategy. Responsible for working with the
category/brand marketing teams to understand specific business and communication goals and oversee the
creation and execution of media plans within the context of the overall marketing mix. Analyzes industry
trends, media results and business environment to improve strategies and plan recommendations. Manages
media budget and is responsible for reporting media results and insights. Supervises media agency planning
and buying for areas of responsibility.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
15%-Partner with Media leadership and marketing category/brand teams to develop media recommendations that support key
business and marketing goals and objectives
20%-Direct media agency and supervise direct report on creation and execution of department-level media
plans
25%-Develop and maintain strong relationships with marketers, merchants and cross-functional teams
(creative, social, finance, Consumer Insights, CRM, HD.Com, PR, etc.)
10%-Analyze and report on media performance and incorporate learning into current and future planning
20%-Test and Learn - new and emerging media trends/opportunities that will help drive our business
and create competitive advantage
10%-Budget management and stewardship of media buys

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 4 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advertising media agency planning/buying experience
Previous client-side media planning experience
Previous management experience
Retail/multi outlet advertising experience
Master?s degree

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing teams and cross-functional work relationships, both internally and with external agency and media partners 
  • Highly organized with an ability to combine strategic direction with hands on tactical execution 
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to conceptualize and build integrated media plans 
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to gain alignment on recommendations 
  • Must be proficient in Excel/Word/Powerpoint computer programs 
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/responsibilities; must be organized and a strong communicator; may be involved in some mildly difficult situations 
  • Working knowledge of marketing, finance, advertising, merchandising and operations; builds effective partnerships throughout the organization; supervises and partners with Media Supervisors and Media Coordinators to support the merchandise marketing and merchandising groups 
  • Partners with Media Director to set strategic, long term media planning, thinks outside of the current day to day environment to create a vision of what the future looks like in the media world
