JOB SUMMARYResponsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company’s Directory Services platforms and their associated operating systems and services. The candidate must have strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, LDAP platforms (NetIQ eDirectory, UnboundID/ PingDirectory, OpenLDAP), and administration of Apache Tomcat and JBoss web/application servers. This is a senior-level position which regularly interfaces with management and is expected to mentor/provide direction to junior-level staff.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Mentors and guides the work of technical staff
  • Coordinates with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality
  • Conducts design sessions with appropriate participation from architects and engineers
  • Creates detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications / services and for enhancements to existing systems / services
  • Collaborates to create configuration designs for design and implementation of various environments
  • Creates work effort estimates for new features and bug fixes for use in prioritization and release management
  • Develops core code modules, unit test tools and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes
  • Reviews and develops new development tools, application frameworks and testing tools for functionality / effectiveness
  • Installs, administers, configures and maintains Directory Services applications including operating systems and related software
  • Provides 'on call' support to resolve Directory Services platform issues after normal business hours
  • Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact (i.e. during established maintenance window)
  • Documents systems configurations and upgrades
  • Designs and implements change and control policies and disaster recovery plans; lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage
  • Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
  • Knows, understands and follows company policy.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Experience with OpenLDAP, NetIQ eDirectory, Oracle Directory Server, or UnboundID/PingDirectory
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
  • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology, including TCP/IP and the OSI Model
  • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support current operations
  • Ability to perform duties in a very fast-pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Advanced ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot platform issues in a primarily Linux/Unix environment
  • Advanced ability to conduct design sessions to specify solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality
  • Advanced ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications
  • In-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot platform issues in a primarily Linux/Unix environment
  • Basic understanding of SOAP and REST APIs
  • Experience administering Apache Tomcat and Jboss
  • Experience administering Apache ActiveMQ
  • Basic understanding of SOAP and REST API’s

Education
  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Related Work Experience & Number Of Years
  • Systems Administration, 5-10 years
  • Enterprise Application Integration, 5+ years


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of company products and services
  • Knowledge of and experience with various scripting languages (Perl, Python, JavaScript, Bash)
  • Knowledge of and experience administering Novell Access Manager or Shibboleth
  • Basic understanding of SAML

Education
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (RHCSA, LFCS)
