Job Description

* Daily communication with both internal teams (Tech Design, Raw Materials Team, Quality, Product Commercialization, etc...) and suppliers to resolve issues quickly. Summarize and report findings.

* Clarify sampling details, brand aesthetics, Quality standards, and development procedures for the supplier community

* Assist in the development and approval of new trims, art techniques, and new fabrications. Document and report cost details and low-cost alternatives learned by collaborating with internal resources and external manufacturing partners

* Maintain accurate and timely records within designated enterprise technology systems; utilize data to analyze and report style development status and production concerns (e.g. auditing system WIP Production dates to alert potential delays)

* Order, track and report development submits and sample status. Help identify possible development or product quality concerns.

* Review supplier submits and samples (art, print strike offs , fits, size sets, PP samples, etc...) within the needed timeframe to keep development and production on schedule

* Track, monitor and help resolve factory production issues; alert management and prioritize development submits to maintain delivery dates

* Assist with the product costing and buying process, maintain system records and calculate cost or shipment adjustments when required

* Communicate and monitor any special testing (e.g. Sleepwear) and sampling needs for specific customers (Costco, Sam's, Wal-Mart, etc...)

* Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Time & Action (T&A) calendars to monitor seasonal progress and ensure that deadlines, specific to manufacturing controls and approvals, are met and work with appropriate teams if running behind schedule

* Advise the Product Commercialization teams for Bill of Materials (BOMs) edits based on supplier recommendations

* Support management and suppliers with data management as needed, including costing Request for Quotes (RFQs) and capacity management attributes required for enterprise technology reporting.

* Assist with the documentation, validation and reporting of liabilities, excess fabric disposal and sampling charges

* Create and track purchase orders in internal systems

* Professional communication with global vendors and company employees located in various countries

* Assist with special projects such as performing competitor product aesthetic and cost analysis

* Identify process improvements, document procedures and drive efficiencies and/or automation

* Develop the expertise to anticipate needs of the brand and company

Experience and Skills

* Familiar with US/Canada apparel markets and product types (knits, wovens, baby/kids wear, sleepwear, etc...)

* Basic understanding of apparel design, fabric qualities, printing techniques, merchandising processes and product development activities

* Well organized, systematic, strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work independently or with minimal supervision

* Good command of written and spoken English & Chinese including Mandarin

* Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc...)

* Minimum 5 years work experience in apparel product development and merchandising, preferably in baby/kids wear

* Prior experience working in a buying / sourcing office

* Experience in production role, preferably with a major focus in Apparel/Textile Engineering or related discipline

* Ability to lift small parcels weighing up to 30 lbs.
