Journeyman Sheetmetal Mechanic

Description:
Will be doing installation of fan powered boxes, rectangular & spiral duct, and sealing of ducts. They are needing a journeyman sheetmetal mechanic with 5+ years experience WITH license.

The purpose of this position is to assist in the assembly, installation and repair of HVAC systems and to install these systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings, air handling equipment, control boxes, air conditioning ducts, grease ducts and hoods, ventilators, grills and louvers or other sheetmetal products and equipment This position reports to a trade Leadman or Foreman and works under close supervision. Performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Helps load, unload, transport and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
Cleans work areas and restocks supplies and materials as necessary.
Helps layout and mark position of duct work in walls and floors using ruler, level and plumb bob.
Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate runs of duct using hand and power tools
Helps set up and operate soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
Helps assemble and install sheet metal ducts, fittings and hangers composed of metals such as iron, steel, copper, brass, and sheet lead and non-metals such as fiberglass, vinyl flex duct, concrete ducts and plastic using hand tools and power tools.
Helps join ducts and fittings using screws, bolts, S and drives, flanges, solder, solvents, caulking and weld joints.
Helps smooth seams, joints, or burred surfaces using files, portable grinders and electric duct hammers. Help set up equipment to fill duct systems with air or smoke to determine if system is leaking.
Helps install and repair air conditioning equipment such as air handlers, VAV boxes, fans and fan housings and similar air conditioning and heating accessories.
Helps plumbers, welders, sheetmetal workers or HVAC workers as needed.
