About this job
The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) providesdirect patient care under the work direction of a licensed nurse. Provides direct patient care services that donot require state licensure. Primaryactivities included in this role are patient hygiene, safety, ADLs, dietarysupport, EKGs and CPR. Manages multiplesimultaneous demands in the Emergency Department. The EDT is responsible for the maintenance oflife-saving equipment and ordering specialized supplies.
The EDT performs clerical and receptionistduties when needed assisting in the coordination and prioritizing of unitactivities, in conjunction with nursing staff to assuring smooth and efficientoperation of the unit.
Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge:
* Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification"for healthcare providers".
* Demonstrates effective English written andverbal communication skills.
* Demonstrates basic technician skills.
* Knowledge of legal policies relating toreporting abuse and chain of command for reporting advance directive issues.
Experience:
* ED Technician experience or equivalentpreferred.
Skills:
* Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification"for healthcare providers".
* Completion of hospital orientation.
* Completion of unit specific orientation.
* Demonstrates basic computer skills.
