The Northern California & Nevada (NCN) Region of Airgas USA, LLC., is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician to join the Sacramento team!

DESCRIPTION:

Repairs and maintains machinery and equipment used in compressing and liquefying gases, such as compressors, scrubbers, instrument panels, and electrical equipment, following blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals, using handtools, welding equipment, and testing instruments. Tests equipment to locate causes of trouble, using standard test meters. Dismantles equipment using handtools and power tools. Welds, brazes, burns and solders parts. Repairs and replaces pipes and equipment, using pipefitting tools. Repairs and adjusts instrument control panels, rectifiers, motors, switches, and other electrical equipment. Repacks compressors and pumps. May operate metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Change filtration materials as required. Repair and maintain facility, buildings and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Install, extract, inspect, troubleshoot and repair bulk tanks, valves and cryogenic pumps and perform operational tests after installation.

* Operate and safely maintain equipment for pumping or repackaging gases into cylinders.

* Regularly inspect and maintain pumping apparatus, tanks, valves and associated monitoring devices.

* Answer technical questions from internal or external sources.

* Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported to management.

* Conduct periodic checks of plant for safe and efficient operation.

* Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

* Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.

* Perform mathematical calculations.

* Operate a vehicle to travel to customer sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* 1 years knowledge and experience of arc and gas welding.

* 2 years industry experience or equivalent.

* Competency at plumbing, carpentry and masonry work.

* Knowledge of welding gases.

* Knowledge of electrical circuits, motors, compressors, pumps and drives

* Ability to perform very heavy work -- routinely lift 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.

* Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours; Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion also required.

* Ability to perform work during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling and finger activities.

* Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets and equipment manuals.

* Must be able to safely drive a forklift and service truck, maintaining appropriate license

* Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

* Must be able to work occasional overtime, if necessary.

* Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.

* High school diploma, or equivalent.

* Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees.

* Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

* If internal, must not have written disciplinary issues within last 90 days.

* If internal, must be in present position for at least 6 months to be eligible to apply.
