Position Summary:

Primary leadership responsibility is to create a friendly customer experience through exceptional service by highly satisfying each customer’s needs and exceeding their expectations. Be the subject matter expert and lead the day-to-day human resource functions of staffing, onboarding, talent development, training, associate engagement and insights, and total rewards from the sales floor. Build high performance work teams by engaging, rewarding, coaching and developing associates. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist store leaders and associates in providing a favorable customer shopping experience and increase associate interest in customer service/relations enhancing Kroger’s reputation as ‘Best In Class’ in the retail food industry.
  • Lead from the sales floor through regular store walks. Engage and ensure department leaders and associates understand and support best practices and store standards.
  • Collaborate with store leaders to identify staffing needs. Promote job openings, identify, interview and select best fit candidates, and assess recruiting methods for effectiveness.
  • Provide a positive onboarding experience for new associates, promote the total rewards package and ensure all required forms and training are completed.
  • Enable new hires for success by ensuring an engaging one-on-one feedback discussion is held with each associate within in the first 90 days.
  • Monitor OSAT, Customer 1st Tracker and Customer Connection Shops daily to identify strengths and opportunities. Collaborate with the Customer 1st assistant store manager to engage and coach associates around customer and associate satisfaction.
  • Evaluate training needs, ensure training is provided, and discuss the outcome with the associate.
  • Interact with department leaders and associates to determine talent bench strength and identify gaps.
  • Administer employment laws, regulations, company policies and other related guidelines.
  • Oversee the performance management process and partner with leadership in handling performance reviews.
  • Encourage department leaders and associates to identify improvement opportunities around Friendly & Fresh. Empower them to work collaboratively to develop solutions and create implementation action plans.
  • Serve as the liaison providing feedback to the store manager, district manager and coordinators on the effectiveness of Friendly & Fresh initiatives.
  • Support strong relationships with local community organizations by promoting initiatives and soliciting involvement from associates.
  • Support the Cultural Council and be an advocate for positive change within the store.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to lead and develop others
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement throughout a store and provide corrective guidance
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Successful completion of the applicable division management training program
  • Ability to recognize and protect highly confidential information
