Position Title - Evening Manager - Food Lion

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the overall operation of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager during evening hours. Support the management and duties of Store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for managing assigned staff.

* Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associates.

* Manages performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.

* Providing leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.

* Communicates company and departmental policies to associates.

* Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed

* Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect. Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling, when necessary.

* Provides the training and development of assigned associates, and support the developmental needs of store associates.

* Ensures effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards as well as associates' needs.

* Assist in attaining financial objectives: sales, payroll percent gross margin, shrink, and control of other expenses.

* Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast and easy customer service.

* Ensures proper control of all store funds and company assets.

* Ensures merchandising guidelines are followed.

* Observes and corrects all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents (e.g. broken equipment or fixtures, cases stacked improperly, refrigeration cases leaking, etc.).

* Records and reports all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures.

* Monitoring shrink and ensuring that inventory is accounted for; provides coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses

* Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations

* Observe and ensure compliance with company security, safety, and food safety standards.

* Ability to use Computer applications, including but not limited to, Windows applications, wireless hand held units, email, and Storeline/RPO.

* Understanding and utilize Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS)

* Understanding and utilize Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)

* Have a total understanding of Training guides and standard practice.

* Treat all store information as strictly confidential.

* Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses

* Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

* Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

RequirementsQualifications:

* A high school graduate or equivalent preferred.

* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.

* Good understanding of store operations preferred.

* Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.

* Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.

* Ability to use technical information to solve problems.

* Ability to lead and direct others.

* Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack

* Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.

* Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion.

* Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants/flowers and household cleaners.

* Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion.

* Stand 100% of the time with frequently walking short distances.

* Use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency (paper and coin) as well as operate a variety of equipment such as cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, and calculator.

* Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level: occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.

* Meet established volume activity standards for the position.

* Have sufficient visual ability to check ID cards, checks, invoices and other written documents.
