General Position Summary/Purpose:
The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) supports the brand and other Pharmacyclics stakeholders/partners in building relationships and advocacy with physician Thought Leaders across the country. This role will work closely with field and home office based commercial colleagues. This is a field-based position and requires professionals with established creditability to interact with Thought Leaders and academic centers of excellence. The field environment is one of information exchange entirely based on approved resources and messages designed to provide an accurate, complete, fair and balanced presentation of Pharmacyclics products and services. There are three core responsibilities: 1) Thought Leader Advocacy Development , 2), Thought Leader Insights and 3) Speaker Management. Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Expand and strengthen relationships with selected physician Thought Leaders
  • Adhere to PCYC's Compliance Policies and Procedures
  • Establish advocacy with Thought Leaders using Pharmacyclics approved promotional materials
  • Shepherd the development of Key Account/engagement plans for each assigned KOL / Academic Center
  • Engineer a customer focused needs based approach with targeted KOLs
  • Train our Thought Leaders by empowering the understanding of diseases, mechanisms of diseases, and the potential role of Imbruvica in the management of these diseases using Pharmacyclics approved promotional materials
  • Provide support to various Thought Leader engagement initiatives, involving proposal generation, opinion leader interactions, and communications
  • Work closely with Thought Leaders to bring relevant Pharmacyclics approved promotional materials and to solicit input to be considered in the development of Pharmacyclics strategies
  • Assist Marketing in identifying, recommending, and inviting potential advisors and moderators for Advisory Board meetings
  • Always balance discussions of efficacy with important safety information
  • Never omit, minimize, or downplay the risks associated with IMBRUVICA ®
  • Attend assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia to: a) maintain awareness of current issues and new data pertaining to Pharmacyclics products, b) develop and maintain relationships with Thought Leaders, and c) manage Thought Leader interactions with Commercial Management
  • Recommend conferences for speaker program placements, and work with Marketing to manage conference requirements for programs
  • Train contracted speakers on approved Pharmacyclics speaker presentation content; provide further on-label and PRC-approved education and guidance to speakers to ensure accurate and effective presentations of Imbruvica
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal partners/stakeholders: Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, etc.
  • Follow all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of all activities
  • Accountable for being fully knowledgeable of all relevant policies and for abiding by these
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Pharmacyclics activities. Always follow PCYC Policies and procedures.
  • Business travel, by air or car, is regularly required

Education and Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech marketing and sales for specialty products; experience in Oncology or Hematology/Oncology preferred; sales experience a plus
  • Prior experience and current relationships with Hematology/Oncology Thought Leaders is preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility within sales and marketing
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues
  • Communication - Listens well; expresses ideas fluently and logically; is open to input and can be depended on for truthfulness
  • Teamwork and collaboration - Creates an atmosphere of openness and truest' collaborates; offers support and encouragement
  • Technical and business expertise - Applies emerging knowledge and trends; builds strong relationships; contributes to expertise within and beyond assigned area
