Job Summary

Operate commercial vehicles transferring donation containers and/or processed goods in a safe and efficient manner. Handles assigned donation station duties demonstrating service to donors and business partners.  Responsible to collect, sort and stack donations in collection containers to sustain production plant and retail operations. Handles business to business pickups, as well as donation bin routes and regional donation station support.

 

Essential Functions:

Drive commercial vehicles to designated locations including, but not limited to, inner city traffic.

Drive and maintain company vehicles in a safe, efficient manner and maintain clean and safe work environment.

Adhere to Seattle Goodwill and DOT rules and regulations.

Transport donation containers and processed goods from donation sites and businesses to Outlets or outside stores.

Transport waste to transfer station.

Pick up special donations from both the business and the private sector and deliver goods as requested.

Assist donors in unloading donations, explain donation criteria and provide tax receipts.

Evaluate donated items to determine if acceptable for donation.

Sort donations into assigned categories and pack safely into container.

Inform supervisor and/or coordinator of status of station, nature and condition of donations and pickup variables.

Maintain accurate and timely donor tallies, DOT (Department of Transportation) paperwork as well as other departmental paperwork, and other support duties.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.

Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  2 years driving experience of a box truck or other large commercial vehicles over 14,000 GVW.

Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: current WA state driver's license and good driving record. Ability to work independently and has part of a team.

Must be able to pass Pre-Employment drug and alcohol test.

 

Essential Physical Abilities:

Lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds; Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers;

Standing or sitting for long periods of time; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders;

Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).

Working Conditions:

Indoor/outdoor working environment, temperature varies, exposure to dust.  This position requires attendant to drive to various locations using Seattle Goodwill commercial vehicles.
