POSITION SUMMARY
The Flex Nurse will be available to be scheduled for the following hours/shifts:
1. Twenty-four (24) hours per week
2. Three (3) weekend shifts per month
3. Two (2) major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day or New Year's Eve)
4. One (1) major summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4, or Labor Day)
5. Ability & acceptance to work on at least two units
6. Also requires that a Flex Nurse follow the scheduling process outlined below:
Upon completion of the unit-based schedules by full-time & part-time staff (with their required shifts only), the schedule needs will be posted to all Flex Nurses. The Flex Nurse will choose their available shifts that match the needs of the organization while maintaining the requirements listed above within one week from receiving needs.
This is a non-benefit eligible position.
The compensation is a flat hourly rate which takes into account that:
1. There is no guarantee of any minimum scheduled hours.
2. There is no paid time off (holidays or otherwise).
3. There is no eligibility to participate in employer paid benefits except as mandated by law.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. 2 years of RN experience required.
2. Worked in at least 2 specialties.
An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
