PURPOSE
Position requires commercial sales work or closely related activities. Utilizes appropriate marketing and sales methodologies to develop profitable business in an assigned location; follows-up regularly with commercial customers to assess satisfaction with services and to identify additional business opportunities; strives to achieve sales goals.

Assistant Department Managers are primarily responsible for training and developing Customer Sales Associates and ensuring every customer has a positive shopping experience while maintaining a safe work environment. Assistant Department Managers will demonstrate the ability to drive and teach company philosophy around the basics P's of retail while completing all product training certification course. Assistant Department Managers must demonstrate a thorough understanding of merchandising, pricing and organization of assigned department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Primary focus is developing relationships with the pro customer community outside the store
-Prospect continuously for new clients through a variety of techniques, including telephone solicitation, with a majority of focus on outside sales (80%)
-Maintain current list of all prospects in electronic database as specified by company
-Develop pricing and business development strategies in collaboration with and under the direction of company and/or location management
-Partner with company sales, operations and marketing department to focus sales efforts on developed and internet leads and in developing campaigns to maximize sales efforts
-Participate in trade associations and trade shows, and assists in other promotional efforts
-Analyze local market to identify market opportunities, prospective companies and associated buyers
-Follow-up on referrals and self-generated leads to identify buyer influences and any timing issues, monitor prospects' contract calendars, prepare reports on status of leads and other reports as required
-Plan prospect visits with appropriate operations personnel, such as the responsible local management
-Make sales presentations to prospective customers
-Solicit orders and process approved services schedules and strives to achieve sales goals
-Meet regularly with new clients to assess level of satisfaction with services and to develop a list of strong referrals
-Develop and submit proposals and responses to RFQs and RFPs issued by prospective clients after obtaining pricing and specifications approval from management as appropriate
-Enhance and maintain business development skills through participating in a variety of training programs as assigned
-Perform additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature and scope as necessary in order to achieve assigned business objectives
-Maintain the "Who Can Do It?" board and the vetting of contractors listed on the board
-May manage Pro Services Assistant

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)
-This position is hourly, knowing it may include hours which exceed eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week.
-Frequent travel required including air and car travel.
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

-High school graduate or equivalent (college degree preferred)
-Three (3) years retail sales experience and proven ability to sell
-Demonstrated skills in the areas of sales and business development
-Ability to analyze sales data and develop recommendations and solutions
-Must possess excellent customer service skills and be results-oriented
-Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and prospects
-Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Intermediate to advance level)
-Ability to multi-task, handle multiple project concurrently and work in a fast paced environment
-Strong interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to delegate and provide follow-up
-Ability to work independently, within a team across all levels and diverse cultures, and the ability to lead team projects
-Excellent communication (verbal and written)
-Must be able to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
-Excellent planning, organization and time management skills
-Demonstrated energy, drive, determination and persistence, even when confronted with rejection

-Must have a valid Driver's License

Work load - ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force frequently. Employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk , reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
