In this area, you’ll be on the front line of ensuring customer satisfaction by striving to answer questions, solve problems and assist in a variety of ways. How do I make a difference?

Providing Incredible, Knowledge  Based Customer Service

  • Act as a resource for customers to turn to when they are unsure where to direct a question or concern, helping them to find a solution or locate the correct person /department to assist them
  • Follow Wegmans standards and acting in accordance with policies, asking a Team Leader about making exceptions to meet customer needs when appropriate and build relationships with customers to leave a lasting positive impression
  • Assist Front End departments as necessary, run a register to ensure customers are receiving incredible service and wait times during check out are minimized
  • Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

    • Perform tasks including operating lottery and That’s T.H.E. Ticket machines; administer the Shopper’s Club program; sell stamps and money orders; rent out carpet cleaning machines, check out customers as necessary, perform refunds and exchanges and follow state laws during the sale of alcohol and lottery services
    • Maintain the appearance and functionality of the bottle return room, empty full machines, ensure the area is pleasant for customers to be in and contact management or maintenance with any problems that arise
    • Prioritize and balance a variety of tasks simultaneously, including answering and transferring calls, assist customers and maintain the overall appearance of the department
    • Properly complete all paperwork and reports regarding food borne illness, product recalls and other food safety issues
    • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

What skills, learnings, and experiences are required?

  • Customer service experience, preferably in a grocery or retail setting

  • Possess delegation skills and clearly communicate expectations in a positive way, assess employees' abilities when assigning tasks and follow-up to ensure their completion

Work environment: 

  • Work includes repetitive hand and arm movement, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, occasional bending, frequent reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work may include cashier work occasionally. The average weight range of items lifted is 3–8 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
