POSITION PURPOSE
The Systems Engineer Intern will partner with Associates to support the implementation and maintenance of the large and complex infrastructure that runs behind The Home Depot retail and business applications.
This is a temporary role with potential to grow into a permanent position.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
10% - Planning & Analysis:
Uses critical thinking to approach problems and create solutions
Collaborates with senior leaders on assignments
80% - Delivery & Support:
Learns to work as part of a team focused on developing solutions that align with end user needs
Gains experience in performing configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure
Learns to maintain, upgrade, and support existing systems and infrastructure on a regular basis to ensure operational stability
Gains experience in standing up the necessary system software, hardware, and equipment (physical or virtual) to meet changing infrastructure needs
Supports field and corporate roll-outs of technology
Follows the established processes, policies, standards, and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards
10% - Learning:
Participates in learning activities around modern systems engineering core practices (communities of practice)
Increases business acumen by learning about other parts of the business
Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations
Increases business acumen by learning about other parts of the business

NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to the Systems Engineer Manager or Sr. Manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Exposure to infrastructure, network, database, or security solutions
Exposure to configuring and installing systems and infrastructure components
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
