The Coding & Compliance Specialist monitors and evaluates coding and documentation of Mount Carmel Medical Group (MCMG) providers. Provides feedback and education on the results of auditing and monitors the overall coding quality of coding professionals.

Job Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Associates or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred.

* Licensure /Certification in coding (CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT) required.

* Minimum of 1-3 years professional coding experience required.

* Comprehensive knowledge of procedure and diagnostic coding for professional services and Medicare, Medicaid and other 3rd party payer coding and billing regulations.

* Demonstrated knowledge of 1995 and 1997 Evaluation and Management Documentation Guidelines and other professional documentation requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

* Responsible for monitoring the overall coding quality coding professionals within the MCMG.

* Provides feedback and education.

* Provides orientation to physicians and other healthcare professionals on coding and

documentation requirements.

* Monitors, researches and recommends changes in response to all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to the private practice of medicine and professional services.

* Maintains detail results of monitoring and auditing performed with documentation of necessary education, follow up and case specific findings.

* Develops educational programs to providing ongoing training in response auditing findings or regulatory changes.

* Serves as a resource for MCMG colleagues on professional coding and documentation requirements.
