Full-Time Shipping and Receiving CDL Truck Driver - Round Lake

Ace Hardware is currently seeking a full-time Shipping and Receiving CDL Truck Driver for local delivery from our Round Lake, IL store.

About the Position:

At Laskowski Ace, shipping, receiving and delivering products for our 9 far-north suburban stores is a critical aspect of the business. The position is responsible for receiving and placing inventory into stock, picking and packing orders for delivery, timely and accurate delivery and/or pickup of goods to specified locations, loading and unloading trucks and trailers, warehouse keeping, and inventory control.

Responsibilities include:

• Stay abreast of current and new products and the location of the inventory within receiving
• Check merchandise in against receiving ticket
• Maintain vehicle properly
• Report and record damage to vehicles, product, and/or equipment
• Pick and properly pack transfers and truck shipments
• Load and unload trucks and trailers by hand or by use of a hand truck, forklift, or dolly
• Pad, stack, and secure items in position on truck to prevent damage during shipments
• Drive company trucks making prompt on-schedule deliveries and pick-ups while notifying management of any delays in the delivery schedule
• Responsible for assisting and assembling product for receiving, storing, shipping, and control of materials in inventory or being sold
• Maintain the warehouse so it is clean, organized, and safe for all employees
• Maintain high ethical standards in all actions

Minimum 

• Be at least 21 years old
• Experience using a computer
• Valid CDL driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 3 months
• Must meet insurance company's requirements to drive company vehicles
• Required to meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Current medical certification card or ability to obtain a card
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have organizational skills and be a self-starter
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner
• Forklift certification or have ability to acquire a forklift license.
• Ability to lift at least 100 lbs.
• Ability to Walk and climb steps and stairs on a frequent basis
• Physical ability to lift, handle and carry stock from floor to overhead on a frequent basis
• Ability to push and pull pallet jacks and two-wheeled hand truck with stock on level surfaces on a frequent basis
• Ability to sustain squatting, kneeling, stooping and bending while moving stock
• Have a proven track record of being a team player

• Availability must be flexible to the needs of the business 

Preferred but, not required

• Warehouse and/or maintenance experience, fork lift experience, and previous delivery experience, and knowledge of the delivery area preferred.
• Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating product, greeting customers, answering phones and building relationships with customers
• Retail experience including merchandising and stocking
