Job Description

The purpose of this position is to patrol assigned zone (by foot, vehicle, or bike), enforce client policy and regulations, and investigate all facility related incidents. Ensure that the client, its associates, and facility personnel are provided with a safe and professional working environment. The Security Specialist reports to the Security Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrols assigned post on foot or patrol, vehicle, or bike to maintain visibility and observe possible unusual activity
  • Investigate and report maintenance and safety conditions which might endanger the client, its associates, guests or public safety
  • Ensure that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times; Maintain all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition
  • Respond to all requests for assistance relayed by Supervisor or client; complete various company or client assignments as required; submit reports to superior officer
  • Investigate security related accidents/incidents, interview witnesses, complaints, and victims; responsible for gathering physical evidence and preserving it for future use; complete report and follow up with management as needed
  • Investigate and report fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility related events, and provide back up for client personnel
  • Responsibilities include crowd control and assisting Fire Department/EMS or other officials during these processes; maintain control at traffic accidents, assist victims, and investigate causes
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees on company property have proper company issued identification
  • Ensure that the client, its associates, and facility personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment
  • Obligation for maintaining state and client requested certifications; all documentation and fees are the responsibility of the employee unless otherwise noted
  • Site specific training will need to be completed within the first thirty days unless otherwise stated based on client or assignment of position
  • Uniform attire and grooming standards must be maintained at all times while in uniform
Security Specialist Quality Standards
  • Comes to work well rested and alert; is on time and completes shift assignments (including overtime, if assigned).
  • Has a neat, professional appearance and comes to work with complete and clean assigned uniform.
  • Has a friendly and professional demeanor and provides quality customer service.
  • Is a good communicator (both verbal and written) and is capable of handling typical and crisis situations both efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be assertive verbally and not shy away from intervention with large groups of juveniles or young adults. Must be able to detain individuals if necessary.
  • Understands and successfully executes his/her post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Is capable to perform extended foot patrol, which may include climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Is physically able to undergo training and certification in pepper foam/spray and handcuffing and can carry out duties related to the same.
  • Must be able to successfully complete CPR, First Aid and AED training and certification.
  • Capable of physically detaining, restraining aggressive person(s) and/or performing self-defense.
  • May require a valid driver’s license (without restrictions or medical conditions)
  • May require operation of a Segway (Segway’s have a 250 pound weight limit)

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one verifiable employer.
  • Prior Military Police, Law Enforcement Experience, or significant security experience
  • Education may be substituted for experience on a case by case basis
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check in accordance with Allied Universal guidelines.
  • Required valid driver’s license for the state of residence and driving record that meets the AlliedBarton MVR requirements.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge with the ability to operate security related technology.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of Allied Universal's Security Officer Basic Course exam.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to providing quality customer service.
  • Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at client site.
