Pathology Data Entry Specialist

Job DescriptionEssential Job FunctionsCandidate must have recent medical transcription experience and able to understand general anatomy. Register patient demographics and specimen samples in the LIS (Laboratory Information System) system.Distribute pathology test results to physician offices and surgery centers via the LIS.Confer with physician-s offices when additional information is needed for billing or distribution of reports.Enter consultation request information from outside sources and internal Pathologist.Answer the phone in a pleasant and courteous manner.Shuttle calls to the appropriate personnel.RequirementsMinimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Have completed a course in Medical Transcription from a vocational school, community college program, distance learning programs or have on the job training with a previous employerA working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to specifically to GI pathology, general pathology and cytology.Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products.
