Nurse Practitioner in ICU

Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin, IL

* Shift: Day Shift working Monday through Friday

* Full Time

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The ICU NP will assist physicians in the facilitation of care of assigned Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery patients with the goal of achieving quality outcomes in a cost efficient manner and works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary staff, both internal and external to the organization, to achieve these goals. The NP participates in quality practice improvement processes related to the management of care. Focus of care is from post surgery to point of discharge.

WHAT YOU NEED: (Education/Experience/Certifications)

* Masters Degree in Nursing from accredited nurse practitioner program

* 5 years recent experience in ICU

* Previous experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner desired

* Advance Practice Nurse license with nurse practitioner certification

* Current Illinois RN license

* Specialty certification preferred

* CPR certification

* ACLS

Physical/Work environment:

* May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases.

* Ability to perform lifting / transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs. may be required)

* Ability to transport objects from one location to another

* This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated

* If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015.

* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
