Job Description

PURPOSE: This individual will drive activity throughout the builder center to improve all aspects of quality, positively impacting the experience of the Builder Direct customer. The scope of activity includes sales (quoting), design, measurement, order processing, installation and post-installation. As a result, the major quality metrics – quality-related costs, quality-related incidents, on-time complete installation and the number of trips per install – should all improve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide quality-related support for the Northeast and Southeast Builder Centers.
  • Gather and analyze transactional data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure all levels of management – Operations, Customer Service and Sales – are actively engaged in assessing and understanding quality-related data as well as taking ownership to define and implement all appropriate action steps.
  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable function to ensure proper billing and collection.
  • Conduct occasional field inspections of product, delivery and installation quality and provide feedback as needed. Gather/maintain data to ensure issues are being addressed and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Develop relationships and provide feedback to all areas of the organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related major.
  • Five or more years of experience in the following:
    • Use of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar quality improvement methodologies.
    • Conducting statistical analysis of data to identify issues and trends.
    • Documenting and presenting processes via process maps and workflow diagrams.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical processes and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to present processes and findings to senior management and support all conclusions.
  • Ability to clearly convey analysis and complex concepts in a simple, concise format.
  • Ability to successfully interact and work with personnel at all levels.
  • Able to work with a minimum of daily direction/leadership.
  • Basic knowledge of home construction and cabinet installation desirable.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Formal project or process management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Language Skills:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients/providers in an effort to coordinate team activities to support meeting the business objectives. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to plant management, senior management and plant employees.

Mathematical Skills:


Ability to apply statistical and mathematical concepts as related to problem analysis and corrective action.

Reasoning Ability:


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize process and value stream mapping, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.

Team Leadership:


Ability to effectively and efficiently lead cross functionally within the organization as well as with suppliers and clients. Ability to lead change initiatives across multiple groups.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift 50 lbs on an occasional basis.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical office environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Up to 25% time will be out-of-town travel.
