Position Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Product Innovation Communications is a core member of The Home Depot Merchandising Public Relations Team, and plays a key role in the company's messaging strategy by developing, refining and leading a high-impact earned media strategy that supports the company's product innovation and technology objectives. This position leads a team of communication professionals to identify opportunities with key external stakeholders, primarily media and industry influencers, to convey a narrative about the organization concentrated on their product innovation. Working with The Home Depot’s Marketing and Merchandising Teams, the candidate must be able to collaborate and influence key internal stakeholders cross-functionally to manage and enhance consumer and trade communications programs.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
25%- Develop and deliver an earned media strategy that supports The Home Depot's product innovation and technology objectives.
20%- Counsel and develop communications campaigns that support business objectives in collaboration with merchandising, e-commerce, marketing and other departments.
20%- Support The Home Dept's owned media team with compelling stories that are delivered through the company's blog and website.
20%- Lead team to create high-impact storytelling and measurable earned media strategy that engages The Home Depot's large customer base
15%- Development of a strong collaborative partnership with The Home Depot's marketing team to support new marketing and sales initiatives in retail stores and online.

Nature and Scope:
This position reports to the Director of Product Innovation.
This position has 4 direct reports.

Environmental Job Requirements:
Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel: Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass pre-employment test if applicable.

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Work Experience Required: 10

Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree Communications or Public Relations preferred, MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years combined corporate and agency experience with a CPG
  • Retail PR required.
