Key Responsibilities:
These openings are for front end technicians. This is the clinical area. Prescription entry from faxes and electronic, calls out to physicians, don't talk to patients. Rarely take phone calls, just do prescription entry. Heads down all day long. Rotate them through three different areas. Referral team, oncology team, and re-fill team. DO all therapies so they are filling all prescriptions.
Background: retail, mail order, PSR that had a tech license. Attitude and personality is number one, being reliable and showing up is huge. KS license, prefer a PTCB but not required. 6 months experience is fine. Lot of sitting. Lot of computer time. Within the teams there is some changes that happens.
-Calculates and/or verifies the correct dosage based on the prescription
-Enters new and refill orders in a timely and accurate manner.
-Process orders based on the priority assigned
-Batch and print labels, forms and delivery tickets
-Prepare backup pharmacy orders
-Comply with a process that addresses all state and federal guidelines regarding medication labeling.
-Provide dispensing pharmacists with information regarding allergies and drug interactions, therapeutic duplication's, and other items that the computer flags. -Courteously assists all internal and external customers
- Consult with dispensing pharmacist regarding prescription order clarification, non-stock items, order entry problems or concerns.
-Complete all data fields according to pharmacy procedures including use of approved abbreviations. Work Environment: Must be available to work an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7am-7pm Monday-Friday
This is a closed door mail order pharmacy that works with specialized medications.
Very fast paced environment Qualifications: KS Licensed Pharmacy Technician
