POSITION PURPOSE
As a Third-shift Transportation Supervisor you will oversee a team of 10-12 hourly associates that are responsible for sorting and loading the packages onto the route trucks that depart daily.  Assigns job tasks to their team members and observes the loading of the trucks to insure excellent quality of the loads.  Will train all new associates in their job duties and assist in hiring.  The hours of this positon will range from +/- midnight to +/- 8a.  Candidates must be able to work the required hours 


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manage a freight budget of +/- $5MM in annual spend.
Service levels to End User Customers including maximization of next day service model, damages, claims and return goods authorization.
Optimization of Replenishment service levels to four branch locations including daily replenishment via over-night class 8 tractor trailer operations.
Management of up to 30 drivers operating 5-6 days per week with night operations.
Working with RDC Operations Management on shipping characteristics and optimization of freight.
Relationship Management with all 3rd Party Service Partners including TL, LTL, UPS and Vehicle Maintenance Providers.
Assist in the development of TQM and Lean Initiatives for our logistics operations.

NATURE AND SCOPE
Will report to a Transportation Manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
As a Transportation Supervisor you must be a team player with excellent customer service skills and the drive to succeed. Qualified candidates are self-motivated, responsible, highly organized and able to multitask in a fast paced and changing environment.
Successful candidates will have:
Expertise in the Department of Transportation regulations for Commercial Vehicles
Excellent computer skills, specifically in MS Excel and MS Access
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with supply chain systems, routing software and other related tools
