Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates activities related to the shipping, receiving, and transportation process. Responsibilities may include preparing items for shipping, receiving, or transportation, working with internal and external customers, and assisting with coordinating operations with other departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares and distributes orders and paperwork to be pulled and prepared for shipment within a location that has a large product base, higher order volume, and greater overall complexity.
- Coordinates activities with transportation, customers, and related companies, which includes determining lead and lag times, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, confirming shipping, and calculating and verifying charges; transportation is typically within the domestic and international areas.
- Reviews, verifies, and enters incoming and outgoing orders, materials, and transportation with proper documentation, ensures materials are completed appropriately, and information is accurate.
- Ensures compliance with DOT, hazardous materials, HSE, and other regulations, policies, and procedures, and assists with training and reviewing the work of others involved in the shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory process.
- Assists with reviewing and coordinating general warehouse, inventory, or production operations, and performs a variety of functions relating to plant schedules, inventory management, production results, and quality activities by reviewing reports and shipments and other information as required.
- Reviews and/or completes a variety of documents, forms, and materials to initiate or complete the shipping, receiving, or transportation process.
- Responds to daily questions and concerns from warehousing, inventory, production, customer service, or other functions, investigates problems, and assists with identifying a solution.
- Prepares labels, descriptions, and other documents for shipments, materials, and products.
- Performs various clerical duties, such as entering data, sorting, copying and filing documents, and related clerical functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status
Must have at least two experience in a shipping and receiving position
Other Qualifications:
Ability to walk, stand, stoop and climb 90% of the time
Ability to sustain physical effort required in frequently turning, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, seeing, and/or talking throughout the shift
Demonstrated initiative in completing needed tasks
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal contacts
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred
2 years experience tractor trailer driving and/or operating spotter truck equipment preferred
Some college or an Associates degree preferred
