The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for performing all functions necessary to provide patient's medications in a safe, efficient, friendly and cost-effective manner. The Director of Pharmacy manages and directs the operations, budget, technology, and training/educational programs for the Department of Pharmacy. The position also holds the authority and accountability for the entire medication use process including developing interdisciplinary strategies to ensure safety and quality. Oversees the planning process for the Department of Pharmacy Establishes and coordinates the achievement of departmental goals and objectives Develops an organizational structure with clearly defined lines of authority and job responsibilities that enable employees to work together toward common objectives Integrates pharmacy services with other departments and the organized medical staff to establish a multidisciplinary approach to improving patient care Develops, justifies, leads and manages pharmacy programs and services to improve patient care Directs the operations of the Department of Pharmacy. Develops, approves, interprets, and enforces hospital and departmental policies and procedures to achieve service objectives Assures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for pharmacy operations U.S. Food and Drug Administration Drug Enforcement Administration and Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency Georgia Board of Pharmacy Assures compliance with standards of practice from accreditation organizations The Joint Commission American Society of Health-System Pharmacists United State Pharmacopeia Serves as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Develops and maintains a system and program of performance improvement Serves on entity committees and task forces as requested Assures pharmacy computer systems are contemporary, functional, and appropriately integrated into other systems within the entity Oversees the complete financial performance of the Department of Pharmacy Prepares, monitors, and administers the pharmacy services operations budget Prepare and administers the pharmacy capital equipment budget Prepares, monitors, and administers the pharmacy services personnel budget Seeks innovative ways to reduce/contain costs and ensure quality services Assures appropriate charge capture/billing systems for charges are developed and maintained Oversees the management of Human Resources of the Department of Pharmacy Establishes policies and procedures for recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, supervising, developing, motivating, evaluating, and disciplining staff Approves position descriptions and performance standards for all pharmacy staff Establishes appropriate staffing/pharmacy practice model, levels and positions to achieve departmental and hospital objectives Quality/Safety Ensures that high quality patient care regarding use and administration of pharmaceuticals is provided, and that all pharmacy operations are compliant with all applicable legal and financial accountability requirements. This includes development of oversight programs/audits for prevention or early detection of compliance concerns, such as inventory control, dispensation audits, etc. Serves as subject matter expert displaying in-depth knowledge with 340b programs and understanding of the legal requirements and compliance implications related to the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy with B.S. Pharmacy or PharmD degree with business administration degree (MHA, MS, MBA). ASHP-accredited residency in addition to five years of experience in hospital pharmacy management with evidence of progressing management roles. BLS Certification Required.
