Altavita Village is a non-profit continuing care residential community located in the heart of the Inland Empire.

We have part-time openings for resident assistants in assisted living.

 

We offer competitive pay – Hours and schedules vary, weekends included.

Job Summary:

Provides assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the Assisted Living department (ALU, SCU, & TCU) or Special Care Unit or both.  Assures resident cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, and activities needs are met while providing for residents’ comfort, safety and dignity.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct personal services to the residents of the ALU, TCU or SCU, including but not limited to the following:
  • Serving meals, snacks, and assisting with menu selection in the ALU dining room or SCU/TCU dining areas.
  • Serving meals on trays to resident rooms in cases of illness only (must be reported to AL Care Manager)
  • Assisting residents with mechanics of eating (SCU only), must be reported to AL Care Manager
  • Assisting with showering
  • Assisting with grooming, hygiene (minor assist in ALU) (up to full assist in SCU)
  • Assisting with dressing
  • Assisting to and from bathroom, as required by individual resident service plan
  • Assisting with toileting  on a two hour schedule (SCU only)
  • Maintaining bowel & bladder records for residents (SCU only)
  • Setting up and maintaining resident records for bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, and grooming needed by each resident as indicated in their individual Service Plan
  • Making beds daily , changing linens and doing personal resident laundry as required
  • Assisting with activities; encouraging/reminding/escorting residents as needed for maximum socialization opportunities
  • Interacting with residents during one-on-one visits that may be assigned or requested during any shift, by either the AL Activity Coordinator, the AL Care Manager, or the AL Care Coordinator
  • Provides written and/or report of  verbal observation of residents’ physical, mental, emotional, and social functioning at each shift change to oncoming co-team members
  • Provides assistance and companionship to residents when needed, while also demonstrating sensitivity to the importance of residents maintaining their independence and “abilities to do for themselves” as much as possible.
  • Keeps alert to assigned residents’ condition, reporting changes in resident’s demeanor, attitude, care needs, behavior or physical appearance to the Med Tech team leader, or the AL nurse on duty.
  • Promptly answers resident call system pages.
  • Preserves resident dignity at all times.
  • Practices confidentiality in all aspects of resident care, condition and provided nursing services.
  • Transports residents as needed through the AL facility, to doctor visits in the RSS office, and to Beauty or Barber Shop appts.
  • Recognizes and respects each resident’s individual emotional, social and cultural needs, including their religious beliefs
  • Attends all mandatory staff and in-service meetings

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of six months experience working with the elderly preferred.
  • CNA certification preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Mathematical Skills:

  • General math knowledge required.

Language Skills:

  • The ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with all levels of staff, governmental agencies, professional organizations, outside vendors, contractors, counsel, Altavita Village residents and employee's.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

  • Current First Aid

Physical Demands:

  • Exchange information with residents, supervisors, existing employees, vendors, etc.  Listen for alarms, signals and bells.  See to read, prepare and write documents; sit or stand for extended periods of time.  Manual dexterity of hands and fingers required to operate equipment, residents’ personal items.   Kneel, bend at the waist and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies.  Lift light to heavy objects; some twisting or rotation at the truck, hips, knees and neck while providing physical assistance for residents. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Minimum lifting of 35 lbs is required.
