Responsibilities:

The Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) group is responsible for leading, delivering, and supporting enterprise integration solutions for Office Depot. The EAI Lead Systems Engineer is accountable for managing infrastructure and operations related integration services and software to ensure availability, recoverability, performance, systems & data integrity and supportability. Provides strong triage and troubleshooting expertise to unique problems and serve as a key technical leader for EAI technologies. The Lead Systems Engineer will bring many years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise level integrations with expertise in automation (infrastructure & application) and cloud computing. In addition, he/she will have in-depth experience and apply both operational and application best practices to effectively support Enterprise Integration initiatives.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Technical expertise with middleware integration technologies, including infrastructure/OS, applications, and operations with such products as IBM Sterling File Gateway (MFT) and IBM Partner Engagement Manager (PEM).
  • Strong experience with enterprise data center technologies including operating systems, storage platforms, network switching, and security infrastructure.
  • Leads initiatives to integrate products such as MFT throughout the organization.
  • Provides training and knowledge transfer to team members.
  • Designs and leads implementation of hardware/ software/ environment standards based on business strategy and architecture.
  • Working knowledge of disaster recovery, high availability and other technologies and principles that support business continuity; experience with DR capabilities in virtualized and/or cloud environments.
  • Works outside immediate discipline to coordinate a group of people in troubleshooting a wide-scale problem; serves as point-of-contact across several areas or disciplines to solve major outages with high impact or visibility.
  • Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management, guides less experienced engineers and support teams.
  • Leads evaluations and recommends appropriate hardware and software for integration related initiatives
  • Leads implementation and deployment efforts on multiple projects; leads SDLC checkpoint reviews (peer, design, standards, etc.) for internal and external projects.
  • Develop, implement, execute, and measure application, operations, and infrastructure processes, policies, methodologies, templates, standards, and procedures to meet goals for quality, time-to-market, and ROI/TCO.
  • Perform after-hours or weekend system maintenance and application support as needed.
  • Participate in change management and incident management processes.
  • Develop relationships and work alongside other functional IT groups such as development, networking, storage, database and security.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field; Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with integration engineering and implementation with MFT technologies such as GlobalScape, IPSwitch, with preference given to IBM Sterling File Gateway and related products such as Sterling B2B Integrator, Connect Direct, Sterling Secure Proxy, Sterling External Authentication, and IBM Control Center.
  • Solid understanding of Network operations and internet protocols (DNS, FTP, SFTP, FTPS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, TCP, IPv4, IPv6 and IPSec).
  • Strong self-management skills with ability to effectively collaborate with peers and senior management and lead other team members.
  • Strong understanding of managed file transfer technologies (AS2, EDI, PGP, PKI, S/MIME).
  • Experience using encryption programs (PGP/GPG), public/private keys, key signing.
  • Familiarity in working with SSL certificates, public/private keys, SSH public/private keys.
  • Strong knowledge of IS/IT concepts across a broad spectrum which includes application development, operations, service-oriented architecture, and application integration.
  • Prior technical leadership experience in an engineering capacity working on multiple infrastructure environments and projects.
