The Holiday Inn Houston Downtown, managed by Pathfinder Development, is seeking a Group Events and Catering Manager who can bring their top-notch sales & marketing skills to our property. This person should have a solid foundation is sales & marketing within the hospitality industry with a heavy emphasis on building sales, operations, Promotions to our Food and Beverage Outlets.
The Group Event and Catering Manager identifies potential business and supports promoting and managing events from start to finish. The person in this role is expected to be strong in restaurant operations and exhibit a concierge-level of service by displaying a thorough understanding of our products, restaurant operations and exceeding guest's expectations whenever possible. The individual in this role is expected to work closely with the Food and Beverage team including the kitchen to ensure all details and expectations associated with client events are met or exceeded and reports directly to the Director of Sales.
  • Sales building; generating new leads through current guest engagement, web research, tradeshows, cold-calling, and networking
  • Respond to all phone and online inquiries, explaining and guiding clients through our catering and event process
  • Assist as Manager On Duty shifts looking to build relationships with guests by helping in the seating process, and working with management to identify and engage potential clients
  • Work with current clients to collect all pertinent information in order to create successful proposals based upon clients' needs and specifications
  • Solicit to small social groups to cross sale additional revenue opportunity through utilization of event space and hotel Restaurant
  • Create a profitable menu to meet client expectations and coordinate catering needs with the Food & Beverage department.
  • Develop awareness and reputation of the restaurant and the hotel in the local community by attending networking events in the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts to produce group business, to include food and beverage sales and catering/banquet services
  • Be present at on-site events; greet hosts, facilitate and manage set-up, operations, and oversee the breakdown
  • Develop and implement promotional strategies that drive traffic and revenue into the hotel Restaurant, Meeting Space, Hotel Terrace and outdoor greenspace.
  • Obtain a strong sense of utilizing Social Media and other on-line marketing tools to bring a broad spectrum of awareness to the property further driving revenue
  • A minimum of two years in a sales or sales support role, as well as two years in customer service
  • Proven track record of sales performance
  • Possesses good communication, selling, collaboration and organizational skills
  • History of strong leadership skills and the ability to command projects and make significant contributions to an organization's overall success
  • Committed to ensuring customer satisfaction, ability to handle multiple projects/clients without difficulty
