Position Purpose (Summary) The function of this position is to: * Performs duties associated with the servicing of tires. * Perform maintenance and upkeep of the service department, office and storeroom * Performs tire services authorized by the customer, using correct procedures and in a timely manner. * Be able to troubleshoot, adapt, and resolve/repair all issues that arise during a serving of a vehicle * Communicate with the Service writer/consumer regarding the repairs/service. Answer related questions as to operation, features, and functions. * Perform required documentation for each service and or repair. Auto Service Technician Trainee Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks * Sets a living example of what he/she would expect from another Richlonn s associate. * Maintains professional image, clean and well groomed. * Greets customers anytime one is encountered. * Sets hoist to lift vehicle using proper lift points at all times so no damage is done to vehicle. * Tire Service * Dismounts and mounts tires. * Examines damaged, defective or flat tires to determine feasibility of repairs. * Repairs auto, light truck and industrial tires using RMA procedures. * Rotate tires on vehicles using recommended rotation pattern and procedure. * Install tire/rim assembly back on vehicle, tightening lug nuts with torques sticks or torque wrench to manufacture specifications. * Uses computerized wheel balancing machine to balance tire and wheel assemblies. * Performs minor automotive repairs and adjustments, such as lubrication of vehicles, changing oil and replacement accessories. * Performs courtesy check on every vehicle that he/she works on, recording tread depth of the inner, middle, and outer edge of tire, recording fluid levels as well as any fluid that were topped off. In addition, record any items that were found to be needed for repair or maintenance. * Inspects all tire casings removed during day, making appropriate designation as to used versus scrap tires.Takes scrap tires to tire bin. Takes used tires to designated area in store. * Cleans and organize work areas, equipment, company vehicles and automotive parts on a daily basis using prescribed cleaning materials and housecleaning methods.Immediately clean spills and put used part containers in waste receptacles. * Receives and inventories tires.Determines proper storage location by size, tire code, and type of tire and places on tire rack accordingly, label facing our and right side up. * Refer to General Service List for miscellaneous duties to be performed on a daily basis. * Take customers home and drives vehicles in and out of service bays. * Picks up tires or parts from other dealers or parts houses. * Protects company assets. * Assists in opening of store at beginning of day (i.e. unlocking doors, emptying garage and driving vehicles out of service bay left overnight.) Follows opening procedure outlined by store manager. * Assists in closing of store at end of day, making sure every vehicle left outside overnight is locked and the keys are in the building. Follows closing procedure outlined by the Store Leader. * Executes miscellaneous assignments and job duties as required. * Performs necessary cleaning and maintenance on shop equipment. * Attend and participate in monthly store meetings. * All safety polices outlined in the policy manual will be followed at all times * Must have a good working knowledge of products and services being offered. This may require additional study and training both on and off site. * Establish goals and objectives as they relate to your position, along with a plan of action to attain or exceed set goals. * Ask and obtain customer referrals and web recommendations * Build and practice superior interpersonal skills. * Efficiently manage his/her time and schedules. * Be capable of understanding client needs.
