Job Summary:

Comfort Keepers' Caregivers are responsible for providing non-medical, in-home support services to include personal care, companionship, socialization, comfort, safety and general supervision of clients as well as home management services

Essential Functions:

  • Actively embrace and promote the philosophy and mission of Comfort Keepers.
  • Perform duties as assigned on the personalized Plan of Care/Service Plan.
  • Assist the client in performing activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including, but not limited to: bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, and/or ambulation.
  • Provide for a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients and family members.
  • Provide light housekeeping tasks, including laundering of client s garments and linens and changing the bed.
    Assist in meeting nutritional needs by providing meal planning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, dishes, and kitchen clean-up.
  • Assist the client with ambulation/transfers as specified in the Plan of Care.
  • Provide medication reminders for client to take self-administered medications.
  • Provide companionship for the client including, but not limited to: talking and listening, reading aloud, providing social and emotional support.
  • Promote the client s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest. Provide emotional support and promote a sense of well-being,
  • Observe and report any changes in the client s mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
  • Participate in in-service and continuing education programs, staff meetings, and client conferences as requested by immediate supervisor.
  • Complete required documentation of services delivered and submit to office in a timely manner according to policy.
  • Use equipment and supplies safely and properly.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client information.

Working Environment:

Varied client home, community and automobile settings. Territory covers the following zip codes 45039, 45040, 45069, 45071, 45215,

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must demonstrate satisfactory completion of any state mandated training.
  • Applicant must be bondable and meet or exceed minimum qualifications for background checks completed upon hire and within time periods permitted by law. Background checks may include the following: Social Security Trace/Address Locator Report; Criminal History Search; Sex Offender Database Search; Motor Vehicle Report; Attorney General s Office Offender Online Watch List: ODH Nurse Aid Online Registry; Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Online Abuse Registry; Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Offender Online Screen; SAM/System for Award Management online screen; Successful completion of Pre Employment Drug Test and acceptance of and adherence to Drug Free Workplace Policy which includes random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must have reliable transportation and fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality.
  • Must have a valid driver s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Comfort Keepers training and orientation program within required timelines.
  • Must accept responsibility for learning and adhering to Comfort Keepers policies and procedures; be able to function in the home setting with minimal direct supervision and maintain satisfactory relationships with administrative staff, clients, and family members. Must be genuinely concerned about helping people and have high moral standards of honesty and integrity.

Position Physical Demands:

The work requires moderate physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis, such as driving, assisting clients in transfer activities and ambulation, and light housekeeping. Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, reach, kneel, and crouch. Lifting only up to 25 pounds is permitted and may be required.
