Avionics Bench Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assembles components, such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools and soldering iron.
• Connects components to assemblies, such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters using hand tools and soldering iron.
• Test and troubleshoot instrument, components and assemblies, using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter,
• Lays out installation of assemblies and systems in aircraft, according to blueprints and wiring diagrams, using scribe, scale, and protractor.
• Sets up and operates ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
• Fabricates parts and test aids as required.
• Interprets flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
• Adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools and soldering iron.
• Keep records of maintenance and repair work.
• Operate computer-aided drafting and design applications to design avionics system modifications.
• Assemble prototypes or models of circuits, instruments, and systems used for testing.
