JOB SUMMARY:

In this challenging position you will focus on maintaining mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems at our air separation plant. The maintenance technician will enhance existing and new skill sets leading to promotional opportunities. These skillsets include operations, project management, advanced computer skills, performance management and business management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Operate and control equipment used in an air separation plant.

* Maintain mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with manufacturers' instructions, local work instructions and governing regulations.

* Maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, local work instructions and governing regulations.

* Maintain quality control and quality assurance equipment, including process analyzers and gas chromatographs.

* Install, maintain, adjust and repair manual, pneumatic, electric and electronic measuring, recording, and regulating instrumentation.

* Maintain calibration standards, including inspection, testing and measuring equipment as well as calibration gas cylinders.

* Perform routine and non-routine analytical calibrations and adjustments.

* Work with management team to schedule calibration and preventive maintenance programs during plant outages to achieve plant and company strategic quality and efficiency goals.

* Assist in the administration and maintenance of comprehensive spare parts program.

* Assist in the training and development of other Airgas associates when needed.

* Perform maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other plant equipment.

* Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

* Monitors water treatment systems

* Develop and maintain contractor relationships

* Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills.

* Demonstrate commitment to safety.

* Complete other related duties as assigned.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

* Maintains compliance with Airgas' 12 Life Saving Rules and Safety Pledge

* Requires 100% compliance with all Airgas safety policy and procedures, and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) training and techniques to prevent lost time or serious injury to others.

* Maintain high degree of safety by employing safe work habits.

* Promotes and develops safe work behaviors through the use of existing policies and procedures and an emphasis on safety behavior management techniques.

* Assists with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis leading to recommended corrective actions to eliminate recurrences

* Ensures applicable regulatory (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DHS) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location requirements

Quality / Technical Support

* Performs maintenance of instrumentation, electrical systems, compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other plant equipment

* Complies with maintenance of environmental, safety, quality assurance, and FDA compliance systems and programs including spare parts, preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

* High school diploma or equivalent and 5 plus years or more industrial plant experience working with instrumentation/electrical equipment.

* A 2-year associates degree in instrumentation, equivalent degree or military experience is preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

* Requires continuous mental and visual attention to operate equipment, make repairs and adjustments.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

* Occasionally (1-33% of work time);

COMPUTER SKILLS:.

* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

* Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals using the English language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent's.
